The Chalkboard and the Dot
A Lesson on Perspective and the Bigger Picture

During a class, the professor walked in carrying a large blackboard with a single white chalk dot in the center. He held it up for everyone to see.
He asked,
“What do you see?”
One student quickly answered,
“A white dot.”
Another said,
“A chalk mark.”
Heads nodded in agreement.
The professor smiled, but then he asked,
“Interesting… but why does no one mention the blackboard? It takes up nearly the whole space, yet all of you focused only on the tiny dot.”
The room grew quiet.
He set the board down gently and continued:
“This is how life works. We often fixate on the one flaw, the one mistake, the one problem — and we ignore the vast blessings surrounding it. The blackboard is wide, yet you only saw the dot. Your life is full of victories, yet you dwell on the scars.”
He paused, letting the weight of the lesson settle.
“Remember this: Don’t let one small imperfection blind you to the greatness of the bigger picture.”
