Linus
May 15, 2023 LINUS Today we went to the Vet. That is the dog doctor, in case you didn’t know. I like the Vet because mom always says, “Do you want to go see your friends?” And I do! I do like to go see my friends! So I go get in the car but I cannot jump up into the front seat like I could when I was young, so mom says, “hold on, let me get your stairs!” At first when she did this- got stairs- I looked at her with my head to the side, and I was confused. I also was very skeptical. This word I know means, I don’t know about this. I figured that out on my own because every time I tilt my head and look at my humans like this, and I am not sure about something, they say I am skeptical, so I think it is the same thing. So when Mom got the stairs the first time, I was skeptical.

Ghost Boy
The smell of a freshly roasted coffee bean flitted past his nose. It alerted Ricky to the waitress. 'More cream with your coffee?' the waitress asked. Ricky Dean shook his head. He’d already noticed a pooch where there used to be a six-pack. He berated himself for letting his guard and diet down. Still, there was a silver-lining. The advertisement was shot two weeks ago and he like the way he looked in the newspaper ad that sat in front of him.

“What do you mean we can’t go to school today mom?” I shouted from my room as I picked up my pink backpack and headed downstairs again hoping I had not forgotten any other thing. This morning was something else, felt a lot like I had woken up in an alternate universe, everything was going sideways. For starters mom woke up by few minutes past 7. Though I noticed last night that she seemed to be having a meltdown,I didn’t think it was that big a deal, well turns out it was.She got fired. “Fired???!”I had asked when she told us after she came down to find I and Humble on the dining table ready to eat an unprepared breakfast. The funny thing about the situation was that she didn’t seem to notice us or the fact that we were already both set for school but we had nothing to eat yet. She looked devastated. She opened the refrigerator and reached for the vodka she normally kept for visitors, opened it and poured herself a nice cup. I and humble looked at each other in astonishment knowing fully well that mom does not drink, she hates the taste and she’d never drink in our presence and we knew for a fact that something was wrong.

This has become a reoccurring behavior, staying up late at night, thinking about someone that might never look my way. But Daniel Achebe was it all, everything I wanted. 99% of us girls in SS2B had a crush on him and I was the least of them all if we were to be rated. Everytime I thought of him a smile unzipped on my face, stretching from cheek to cheek, I wouldn’t even be able to shake off the burning sensation on my face. The feeling is so incredible, I could literally feel electric surges in my vein, my stomach tightening to knots, incredible, just incredible.
