Stone Face

Of the many mysteries hidden in the Amazon, a gigantic human face carved into stone is challenging experts around the world. Even ufologists have joined the debate, claiming that the work was created by extraterrestrial beings.

The incredible sculpture was found in the Amarakaeri Communal Reserve, located in the Peruvian Amazon, covering an area of 402,335.62 hectares. This site is in the territory of Madre de Dios, on the Brazilian border with Acre.

According to consulted scholars, the sculpture is part of the ancestral homeland of the Harakbut tribe, an indigenous group that has inhabited a significant part of Madre de Dios for decades. The sculpture is called “The Mysterious Face of Harakbut.” Scholars are asking: Is it a natural formation or the work of a civilization with advanced knowledge?

In addition to these questions, the colossal stone face raises many more that captivate scholars for various reasons. Was this rocky silhouette crafted by humans? Or could it perhaps be attributed to a random coincidence of natural elements? Could it be the creation of an advanced civilization that once existed in the region? All possibilities presented are plausible and relevant, yet they pose even more difficult questions to answer.

Those who venture along the challenging path that leads to the mysterious Face of Harakbut are often struck by how precise its facial lines and features are.

The face is located very close to one of the many fast-flowing rivers that can be found in the fantastic Amazon rainforest. It is precisely situated atop a ledge, amidst tall vegetation, presenting a highly realistic image of what clearly appears to be a human face. Perfectly visible lines stand out significantly from the cliff, outlining the features of a giant gazing into the distance.

The tribes inhabiting the area regard this rock structure as the presence of one of their ancestral gods, guardians and protectors of the jungle and animals. Observing clearly from any angle, one can easily see a human face perfectly depicted on the massive rock. A sharp, aquiline nose, prominent jaw, and forehead closely mimic the local characteristics.

There are no signs of work tools at the site of the face, as is often observed near other structures around the world. To add to the mystery, the location is extremely difficult to access. Reaching this area with tools advanced enough to create such a feat would require considerable technology. How all of this was actually accomplished in the past remains a mystery that would need to be thoroughly investigated by experts in the field.
