Chapter 6, Redemption of Drowning

Paul finally was able to get off the Island. He got home but his wife was not there. He went and looked up where Teresa was now living. He found her address. She was living in a poor area of the city.

Paul was able to get to her address with no issue but when he knocked on her apartment door. Danny answered in Paul's body.

“Who are you, and why are you in my body?” Paul asked in shock.

The world spun hard and fast, Paul found it hard to stand, everything he thought he knew was wrong. His only thought was he was going insane.

Danny stood in shock; it was him… but it wasn’t. Before he could respond he watched in slow motion as his body reached out and grabbed him by his shirt and began shaking him.

Paul found himself shaking the crap out …himself. He was going insane. Paul knew deep down that he would never harm anyone yet there was a voice deep within him that wasn’t his, telling him to kick the crap out of this imposter. But he couldn’t punch the face of his body, so he kept shaking it, hoping whoever was in there would be tossed out and he could jump back into his body. He was insane.

Danny’s head was moving faster than a dashboard bobblehead, and his vision blurred. Deep down he knew even a few days ago he would have beaten the snot out of anyone who threatened him. Yet, for some unknown reason, he intended no harm. Plus, he could end up breaking his nose, and he loved his nose. So instead, he reached out and latched onto his body and held tight. In a few moments, both Danny and Paul stopped struggling.

Paul was baffled by the hug, yet it felt nice. Two thoughts went through his head. One his body was a real good hugger and two, he noticed his body needed to work out more. Neither Paul nor Danny was sure who started first but as they were wrapped in each other’s arms they began to sob.

Maybe, insanity isn’t so bad, thought Paul.

"What is going on, out here?" Teresa came to the door, looking confused at the two men in front of her. She does not recall Danny and Paul knowing each other. Why are they hugging each other? Everything was getting strange.

"This guy who looks like me claims I am in his body," Danny explained to his wife.

"Let us all go inside and figure this out at the table. Neighbors are staring at us." Teresa said.

Paul went into their house looking around curiously. It looked very homey despite how rundown it looked from the outside.

Danny was giving Paul a dirty look even if it was his own body Paul was in.

They were all seated at the kitchen table.

"All I remember was my boat collided with another boat and a flash of light happened. I was hanging on a part of the boat in the water." Danny explain his experienced.

"I only remember being stranded on the island nearby. I must have been stuck there for weeks on end. Do you think the flash of light switched our bodies?" Paul shared his experience and tried to get an understanding.

"That's the only explanation I can come up with." Danny thought out loud.

Teresa just sat in silence listening.

"This reminds me of something that happened in X-File. My cousin's friend who is an FBI agent is looking into this and he might have some explanation." Teresa concluded.
