Overnight train journey: what to pack

By Traveler FoodPublished about a year ago 2 min read

While you might think that traveling on a plane is the most entertaining, it is far from the truth. An overnight journey on a train to reach the destination is something that can get you hooked, so much so that you would prefer traveling on a train time after time.

However, oftentimes, you would have to go through many hassles before you can even board the train. What is it? Well, it is about packing the essentials along with the holiday packing that you would need on your train journey.

Especially if you are not a train-traveling expert yet, this blog is for you. While IRCTC food order in train has helped a lot with meals for people, here are some of the things that are a must on your train journey.

The must-have documents:

It is pretty much obvious that you need to carry the tickets on the train while you are traveling. However, it is equally essential to carry the relevant documents with the ticket. Why? This is because if you have purchased the ticket online, you would need to show the POI to the TTE. In that scenario, you have to carry the Aadhar card, voter card, or any other identity proof to show it to the officials.

However, if you have purchased the tickets offline through the PRS counters, you are not required to carry the extra documents.

The essential valuables:

Separate from the main luggage and carry-on, you should always travel with a third bag, which you can consider as a small bag. It should be big enough to hold your essentials such as a waller and phone and other precious possessions.

A small bag is specifically handy on a train, when you might need to walk to the dining cart of the bathroom without lugging the backpack around. There are some people who might even use a fanny pack.

Power bank and mobile charger:

These days, you will see mobile phones in everyone’s hands. And all of them have to charge the phone. In such scenarios, it is always advisable to get the power bank and mobile charger with you. In the trains, there are times when the power outlet might be faulty, or even if it is working, you will not get a spare one. Therefore, if you wish to avoid this altogether, it is always beneficial to bring along a totally charged power bank with you just in case.

Hygiene essentials:

In addition to all that, you should also carry hygiene products such as a pair of slippers, a brush, paper soap, and others.

Wrapping Up:

So, these were all you need to pack before your overnight train journey. And if you find yourself craving for delicacies, take your phone out and enjoy the IRCTC food order.
