The "One day I will" myth
Let me ask you something that is really important in your life. Do you believe that one day you will achieve your dream, goalsand become happy?. It is unlikely to happen . You may find and achive your goal but it is hard to become happy without a little suffering. This thinking is just another trick your mind plays on you.
How hedonic adaptation works
Tendency for people to quickly return to stable level of happiness or sadness after major life events. For example getting used to anice car, receiving a promotion or raise, being romantic for a long term relatioship. But everything has a downfall.
The implication of adaptation works can be a problem because it can make people never satisfied. It can also help someone to bounce back in life more than you think. As usual plan to minimize hedonic adaptation such as gratitude journal, make time for other people, making time for hobbies and many more
50 % of our hapiness determine by genetics, forty percent by internal factors and only ten percentby external factors. These external factors include such things as whether we're single or married, rich or poor, and similar social influence.
It is funny because we don't realize how hapiness works. The influence by external factor are not that much. But the bottom line is this: your attitude towards life influence your hapiness, not what happens to you. So cheer up and do something good for yourself and other people.
