On a Sunday morning, Karim made the decision to visit Kaan's home. Welcomed with warmth, Kaan extended an offer of coffee. The spacious bungalow that Kaan inhabited, alongside his staff, caught Karim's attention. A peek into Kaan's family history revealed that his mother's passing occurred during his early years. This led to his father's remarriage and departure with his new wife, leaving Kaan under his grandmother's care. Sadly, Kaan's grandmother had passed away two years ago. Karim's visit had a significant purpose, as he openly discussed their thoughts on Zabel's marriage to mitigate societal rumors. He explained that, due to the critical situation, they saw marriage as the best solution for Zabel's protection. Karim believed Kaan was the best choice for this commitment. Kaan was taken aback by the proposal, and Karim emphasized that the ultimate decision was his to make. He reassured Kaan that their friendship would remain strong, regardless of his choice. Curious about Zabel's stance, Kaan asked about her opinion. Karim admitted they hadn't approached her yet but wanted to know Kaan's feelings first. Kaan stated that he didn't need to know the details of Zabel's past. He firmly believed that whatever had happened wasn't her fault. If Zabel agreed, he had no objections.

Being surrounded by mountains can make us realize how big and vast nature is. It is famously said by Schopenhauer that we can feel how little we are as humans and that the beauty of the nature of nature has the capacity to make us forget ourselves altogether. Schopenhauer has argued in his book “The World as Will and Representation” that we can experience the sublime while being engaged in watching the splendor that is everywhere around us. In this work, he describes the sublime as an experience that arises when we are confronted with the vastness and power of nature, which makes us aware of our own smallness and insignificance. Art too, says Schopenhauer, has this very same capacity of making us experience the sublime, dissolving our very own ego.

Determination was wearing us out. "Hello, folks, let me come fishing with you, I guarantee I won't garbage about once more." Jeff probably said that multiple times. Martin and I traded looks. Jeff had come on an early morning excursion to Hertford Trench with us once. We'd cycled along void paths, the sun shimmering in the green shelter overhanging the street, past the notorious Clibbon's post, denoting an outlaw's grave, and down to the abandoned waterway, where fog rose, steaming and ethereal. Following an hour of finding nothing more significant than minnows, Jeff had invested his energy tossing stones at ducks and cutting his name into a remembrance seat. At absolutely no point in the future! we'd concurred.
