The Kiss Collector
The Kiss Collector Anna took the photography course as an elective at school, learning how to position the camera, hold it level - which honestly is harder than you think - and of course the development. The developer, the acidic stop bath, and fixer were what she mumbled at me after a few weeks into our sophomore year. I was not so obsessed with capturing an image, preferring to keep them in memory as my own. But the idea of flashing a light at a page and it leaving its mark only to be brought and flushed out later was such a fascinating idea to me. Who cares what the image contained. Look at what remained of the light long after it left.

I, Willhelm
Alice had been found in Scotland, walking along the edge of a loch Fyne. She was wearing the same clothes she had been taken in, covered in mud and barely talking. The news dominated the news stream for a week, the once avoided estate was suddenly flooded with reporters, cameras and curiosity tourists. She never left the house, her husband the buffer between her and the outside world. During this time she barely said a word, even to the police who came to interview. Her story was simple; the robot appeared to have malfunctioned, took her away. For weeks she had been locked in the back of a van, eventually escaping when the robot malfunctioned. The police searched the area, found an abandoned stone van and a broken robot. It appeared to the the same robot according to the serial number on it’s neck. But something about it frustrated Robbie Samuel; the payout had been minuscule. Of course the actual number Aphelion robotics that made was not disclosed anywhere, and whatever it was; it was enough for Alice Wilson’s husband to quit his job and work part time, but they never moved into a bigger house, bought a fancy car or did anything else that implied a surplus of cash. This lead Robbie to believe that they had not pushed for a large number, and that made him suspicious.

The Engagement
Port of Venice The cruise ship was the largest sea vessel I had ever seen in my entire thirty-two years of life on this planet. The Norwegian behemoth was docked at Isola Nuova, Venice’s main cruise port. Registering at just over one-thousand feet in length, and peaking at one hundred and thirty-three feet in height, the fifteen deck masterpiece truly took my breath away. In that sublime moment in time, I tried to mentally prepare myself for the twelve day Mediterranean cruise my girlfriend, Emily, and I were about to embark on in celebration of her thirtieth birthday, while simultaneously trying to conceal the engagement ring burning a hole in my backpack. This was also the first cruise ship I had ever been on, so naturally my nerves were rattling out of control. The encroaching storm wasn’t helping my anxiety either.
