HEARING GOD'S VOICE
Silencing the Noise Around Us
Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? He that hath seen me hath seen the Father. John 14:9
In John Chapter One ….
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
John 3:19: and this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Clearly, the Lord is explaining to us that in the beginning, was the Word. The name for Jesus is the Word. Jesus was with God in the beginning. Jesus was God. He is the Creator of all things and nothing was ever made, that was not made by him and through him.
The world did not know Him when He came into the world, as Jesus. He was rejected because of their own desires for the darkness. Jesus was the Light and they chose dark over light. They would rather have darkness, so that they may hide their sinful deeds. In the light, truth shines on the darkness and therefore, they hate the Light.
They Will Say Good is Evil and Evil is Good
Jesus gives to us, a warning about calling good evil and evil the good. He says Woe unto you! We can see this in todays world and it is in very fast motion. Crazy laws being passed, people accepting types of behavior and mannerisms that would never have been accepted only a few years ago.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
V17: For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
God’s blend of His love and His justice has been frowned upon and debated for years and years. Some can accept His goodness and kindness; and yet they cannot accept His justice and His Laws. His Laws is His character. Without the Law of God, there would be utter chaos. All we must do is look at society today, and we see what happens when the Law is not kept in the land.
Some Christians hang onto the Jesus that is kind and giving in the New Testament. They refuse to accept the God of the Old Testament. Yet, in the New, we clearly see the very same God as we see in the Old. It is a crime upon yourself to not read all the scriptures, instead of picking and choosing which verses you read. The Bible was written to be read; old and new alike. The Bible was written for God’s children, and if they are His children, their eyes will be opened to the understanding of God’s Word. Those who only seek evil and selfish desires will not be able to see or hear.
The World Knew Him Not
When Jesus came down from heaven and was born unto Mary, the world was looking for a warrior; a King to come and to rule with iron fists. Jesus came as the lamb, being led to the slaughter. They refused to believe He was the Savior because they had their own visions and wants. He was not what they wanted. He had to heal the sick, in order; to prepare them to take Him into their hearts. Their lives were ravaged by the treatment they were getting by the Pharisees. So, he healed them. This was his kindness and mercy.
When He spoke to the Pharisees and warned them of their evil ways, that was his justice.
A man, such as the leper who came to Jesus so that he could be healed. He believed in Jesus. Even though the people scoffed at the man and wanted nothing to do with him, Jesus took hold of him and healed him; so that they would believe. Still, they refused.
When the adulteress was bought to Jesus for her trial among the people, Jesus said I don’t condemn you. Go and sin no more. This was Jesus showing them that all have sinned and can be forgiven.
On the cross, we see Jesus and the thief that recognized who Jesus was. He did not want to be forgotten and he wanted forgiveness. That was God on that cross and He did forgive the thief and He told him so, when He said he would be in heaven with him. The same God in the old is the God in the new. Filled with ever-loving mercy and justice; He is righteous in all his ways.
People question God and what He is like all over the world. They would rather just say that he is an evil god or say that he doesn’t exist, than to delve into the Scriptures to go and learn of him.
