Egg Seller and the Rich Lady: A Unique Story

The Egg Seller and the Rich Lady is a story for today's times. An egg seller came to the city from a small village. Fresh eggs shone in his basket, but there was a glow of victory in life along with fatigue on his face. Every day, he would wake up in the morning, reach the city and roam the streets with his basket. His voice could be heard far and wide, "Fresh eggs, fresh eggs!"

The Rich Woman and the Eggs

One day, a rich woman got down from a luxurious car. She looked at the eggs carefully and asked, "How much do these eggs cost?" The egg seller said with a smile, "Madam, these are desi hen's eggs, absolutely fresh. One egg costs five rupees."

The rich woman made a face on hearing the price. "So expensive? I want all these eggs at the rate of two rupees per egg." The egg seller's heart started beating a little, but he said patiently, "Madam, I am selling them at a very low price. I have been roaming around since morning, but I haven't sold anything yet."

The rich woman insisted, "No, I want them at the rate I said, how many eggs do you have?" The egg seller saw that the woman's eyes were only for money, there was no value for his hard work. Still, hiding the sadness in his heart, he sold fifty eggs for a hundred rupees.

Purchasing and eating eggs

The woman happily took all the eggs and went away from there. But a question arose in the egg seller's mind, "Is money everything? Is there no value for my hard work?"

After buying eggs, the woman went to a big restaurant and started enjoying expensive dishes there. She paid a bill of thousands of rupees, but she felt the need to bargain with the egg seller, whereas she spent a huge amount in the restaurant without any question.

The Egg Seller's Dream

That night, the rich woman saw the sad face of the egg seller repeatedly in her dreams. The woman could not sleep the whole night. Now she was realizing her mistake. She thought, “How bad I did. Why did I do this to him?” The next day, she went to the same market and started looking for the egg seller.

When she found the egg seller, she apologized. “Forgive me. I did very bad to you. I realized that I have disrespected your hard work.”

The egg seller was shocked. He said, “It is okay, Memsaab.”

The woman's change of heart

The rich woman said, “I want to help you. You tell me, what can I do for you?”

The egg seller thought and said, “Madam, I have some chickens. If you give me some money, I can buy more chickens and expand my small business.”

The rich woman happily decided to help him. She gave the money to the egg seller and said, “I want you to be successful.”

After some time, the egg seller’s business grew. He took a small shop and started selling fresh eggs and other poultry products. He became the most successful person in the village.

Whenever the rich woman passed through that market, she would stop at the egg seller’s shop. She would buy him fresh eggs and talk to him.
