Chapter 44: The Breaking Point
Twins Mirrored Souls

Seojin felt the air leave his lungs as Hojin's grip tightened around his arm, pulling him away from the tumult of the battlefield. Panic surged through him, fueling his instinct to fight back against the nobleman's iron hold. Jaeha’s frantic call echoed in his ears, a desperate plea that tore at his heart, urging him to resist.
“Let go of him!” Jaeha shouted, his voice raw with fury as he barreled toward them, cutting through Hojin’s soldiers like a storm. Each swing of his sword was driven by rage and desperation, and the ground around him was painted with the remnants of their fierce confrontation.
Seojin struggled against Hojin’s grasp, his heart pounding in his chest. “Jaeha!” he cried out, his voice tinged with fear. He could see his brother fighting with everything he had, but Hojin was too close now, a serpent poised to strike.
“Seojin, resist him!” Jaeha’s command sliced through the chaos, igniting a flicker of defiance within Seojin. He wrenched his arm free, using the momentum to push Hojin back. The nobleman stumbled, surprised by the unexpected resistance, and in that brief moment, Seojin seized the chance to escape.
“Jaeha!” Seojin shouted again, retreating toward the safety of his brother’s presence. His heart raced, and adrenaline surged through his veins, urging him forward. But as he glanced back, he saw Hojin recovering, his expression darkening with determination.
Hojin straightened, brushing off the embarrassment of being outmaneuvered. “You think you can escape me, Seojin?” His voice was low, filled with a menacing calm. “You belong to me, whether you realize it or not.”
“Never!” Seojin yelled, fear twisting into defiance. He refused to let Hojin’s words seep into his mind. He would not be a pawn in this dangerous game.
Jaeha was at his side in an instant, his sword raised and poised for another strike. “Stay behind me,” he ordered, his gaze locked onto Hojin with the ferocity of a predator. “I’ll protect you.”
“Jaeha, we need to find a way out!” Seojin insisted, feeling the weight of their situation crash down on him. The battlefield was swarming with Hojin’s soldiers, their numbers overwhelming. No matter how fierce Jaeha fought, they couldn’t hold them off forever.
“I won’t let them take you,” Jaeha replied, his voice a low growl filled with conviction. He was unwavering, a bulwark against the tide of enemies that sought to take Seojin away from him.
But as the words hung in the air, Seojin’s heart sank. Jaeha’s fierce protectiveness was both a shield and a prison. He could feel the truth of their predicament weighing heavily on him, the realization that they were trapped in a battle that threatened to consume them both.
Hojin took a step forward, his eyes gleaming with a wicked smile. “You really believe you can save him? The moment I decide, Seojin will be mine.”
Jaeha’s grip on his sword tightened, his muscles coiling in readiness. “You’ll have to go through me first,” he snarled, ready to fight with everything he had. The bond between them was powerful, but it was also a burden, and in that moment, Jaeha was willing to bear it all to keep Seojin safe.
As Hojin lunged, Jaeha met him with a fierce clash of swords, their blades sparking with each collision. Seojin watched in horror, torn between the instinct to fight by Jaeha’s side and the dread of what Hojin was capable of. Jaeha was strong, a master of the sword, but the number of enemies surrounding them was staggering.
Seojin’s mind raced as he scanned the battlefield, searching for a way to turn the tide. He could see his brother was struggling, sweat pouring down his face, the strain evident in every movement. Hojin was relentless, his laughter echoing through the chaos as he pressed his attack, each strike aiming not just to defeat Jaeha, but to break him.
“Your love makes you weak, Jaeha,” Hojin taunted, his voice laced with mockery. “You’re so blinded by your obsession that you can’t see the truth. Seojin will never love you back.”
The words hit like a physical blow, and Seojin felt a pang of fear gnawing at his insides. Would Jaeha’s fierce love for him truly be his downfall? Could he ever love Jaeha in the way his brother craved? The doubt flickered like a candle in a storm, but Seojin clung to the belief that he was more than a possession—he was a person with his own desires, his own hopes.
In the midst of the chaos, Seojin made a decision. He wouldn’t be a pawn. He wouldn’t let Jaeha fight alone. With newfound resolve, he dashed toward Jaeha, his heart racing with determination.
“Jaeha!” Seojin shouted, drawing his sword and standing by his brother’s side. “I’m with you!”
Jaeha’s eyes widened in surprise, a mixture of pride and concern flashing across his features. “Seojin, you shouldn’t—”
“I won’t let you fight alone!” Seojin interrupted, his voice steady despite the fear surging within him. “We can do this together!”
The bond between them, forged through trials and challenges, sparked something within Jaeha. A fierce glint ignited in his eyes as he turned to face Hojin, their combined presence a formidable force.
“Then let’s end this,” Jaeha declared, a renewed fire igniting in his heart. Together, they charged at Hojin, their swords clashing in a symphony of steel as they fought not just for themselves, but for the bond they shared.
The battle raged on, and for the first time, Seojin felt a sense of unity with his brother. They were not just fighting for survival; they were fighting for each other. The world around them faded into the background, leaving only the connection they shared—a bond that, despite the darkness closing in, refused to be broken.
But as the fight wore on, the weight of the situation pressed down on Seojin. The odds were against them, and every moment felt like a step toward an uncertain future. With Hojin’s laughter ringing in his ears, Seojin steeled himself for what was to come.
Would their love endure against the tide of chaos threatening to tear them apart? Would they emerge victorious, or would Hojin’s insidious grip finally take hold?
Only time would tell.
