In the Goulding, the two women just looked at the fields. Loreen and Lisa surveyed the corn and wheat swaying in the wind. Sussex County, Delaware stayed on their minds. Everything was like a fogginess even though the day was as clear as pharmaceutical, traditional contact lenses. They came to a house that had been designated a historical site.

“So this is the place?” Lisa asked, some somberness crept into her voice.

“It is,” Loreen spoke curtly.

“Thousands of slaves passed through this. I wonder how many called it ‘capitalism.’ There was nothing of the sort. Capitalism is about freedom of mind and body. Even if a slave achieved liberation and held slaves through manumission, that still did not grant them a sense that this was business,” Lisa observed.

“Exactly. there was no business to transact concerning human chattel. In fact, capitalism abolished slavery more than the Civil War in America. Advancements in technology, active-mindedness, and the overwhelming productive power of the North crushed the ground-oriented South.”

They walked onward as Raphael looked at them step closer to the building. A man appeared. He looked down as he locked the doors.

“Sorry ladies, the house is….” he paused. “My goodness. Businesswoman, Businessgirl! Did you want to tour the place?” Vincent Young asked.

“No, sir. We just wanted to see one of the exteriors which supported one of the darkest periods in American history.” Young’s face darkened. “I understand,” he noted with gravitas. “Well you’re welcome to tour the place for free given your status,” he added.

“No, we knew there’d be no one here. If we do return when the facilities reopen, we will happily pay for it.”

“Okay. Well, just take in the sights and you can always return.”

“Thank you. We’ll just soak in the exterior.”

“That’s alright.”
