When Loreen received the call, she let Lisa know. They both responded in their resplendent garb, slacks and blouses. They arrived at the tennis court where the scene looked like a disaster. The racket looked like a broken banjo. The superstar Wanda Twyman had been disabled by the sideline. Her arms and legs had been broken.

“Businesswoman! Businessgirl! You must do something!” Polly Greely exclaimed.

“Was she always like this? Maybe this is a job for the cops,” Lisa remarked.

“Actually, she wanted to have her arms broken against her opponent. Her legs, too. It started out as a dare. A few weeks back Wanda wanted to see if anyone should take her on in a serious match. All amateurs. So, she underwent surgery….”

“And things went haywire,” Lisa added.

“Yep. Oh, Wanda tried to play but couldn’t. She just couldn’t.”

Loreen surveyed the crowd and sure enough found Socialista and Common Man trying to sneak out of the arena.

“Make sure Wanda’s alright. She may need an ambulance.”

“Roger that,” Lisa said.

Loreen walked up to two of the Collectivists with bravura. Every step produced in her a sense of confidence. She ambled down the stairs with a driving force to find her enemies.

“Common Man. Socialista. Why am I not totally thrilled to see you both?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Socialista replied.

“Yeah, I thought better of you,” Common Man stated.

“You both achieved your ends. You made a superstar tennis player into an invalid. Mission accomplished. I must say, however, that you have not won the battle and definitely not the war,” Loreen observed.

“The woman just wanted to serve the ball once. Of course she couldn’t win. She just wanted that one opportunity.”

“You both will lose. I’ll tell you that,” Loreen declared.
