Businesswoman Chapter 40
Really
A wide swathe of the company stood outside. Inside, CEO Candice Trolley tried to keep her wits about her. The workers did not go on strike…technically. They just stood outdoors on the lush, manicured grounds of BeneBio Inc.
Loreen and Lisa knew they looked down a kaleidoscope of emotions. The color seemed red in their eyes.
“We can certainly help,” Loreen piped up.
“You can?! I’ve never felt so helpless in my life. I’ve been my volleyball captain in college and headed the country of Canada in Model Nations in high school. I’ve always been the leader. Now, it seems like the people who follow me are out to get me.”
“Don’t despair,” Lisa chimed. “Those practices were corrupt and only led to envy. With you doing away with them, you fight for your own sanity, much less the health of your company.”
“Thank you,” Candice replied.
“What we have is a package which will set a precedent for all of the employees under your firm. They will achieve based on their abilities only and nothing else. There will be no conditions where race, gender, or other nonessentials are considered,” Loreen made clear.
The people milled about, arms crossed, vaping, or just talking to one another. The lush greenery complimented the mission of good for living things.
“So, I will address them all. Well, most of them. Some of them are at their desks as we speak,” Candice observed.
Like a jolt of lightning, the idea struck Loreen. The electricity flowed from her.
“I know…call them into the atrium. Send a message for them to gather there. They will see what you mean. I mean really see it!”
Candice heeded Loreen’s enthusiasm. The individuals came in through the space.
“All of you are rehired under new conditions. Consider this greatness.”
