Businesswoman Chapter 36

By meeting on the tarmac of the Wilmington Airport in New Castle, County, Loreen knew she had home court advantage. She met with grocery store magnate Ferrlly Buchanan. He stretched out his hand and she shook it with vigor.

“I appreciate you joining me in this fight,” Buchanan mentioned. “Let’s get inside and have lunch.”

It was more of a liquid lunch as they ordered potent potables, a Scotch for him and a Mai Tai for the lady.

“Businesswoman…you’re a facilitator. You make it easier. Now, I need you to do it again. I’m putting ten million dollars in your purse to save my business.”

Loreen looked down at her drink and sipped. “Okay.”

“It’s about these regulations. You’re a fighter and a real hardcharger. If you can lobby to eliminate all the controls over my business. I mean I want all items of produce and drugs. Right now it’s just marijuana but I want all banned drugs by the federal government to be in play.”

“I think with my partner—”

“Businessgirl! How is she?”

“She’s somewhat satisfied. Now, I’ll continue to push for deregulation. The halls of the Delaware Senate will hear my testimony…again. This time, it should stick. It’s only rational to add all drugs to the mix. Just keep them out of the hands of children.”

He swigged a gulp of the good stuff. “Absolutely. Leave the kids out of it,” Buchanan replied.

“Yes, so I’ll earn your money by pushing and pushing for all drugs to be unregulated and controlled and for no taxes on the income of the producers.”

There existed a look in Buchanan’s eye that had not surfaced before. He looked like he had seen Loreen a thousand times and knew her from decades before. They had met only three times, months ago.
