Lisa drank water first thing in the morning. The liquid hydrated her. It replenished her. It drove her. She slipped on her robe and walked on her heated floors barefoot.
This sensation felt reenergizing. She prepared breakfast. Bagel, cream cheese, and lox served with cantaloupe and kiwi juice found its way up to the bedroom. Devlin rolled over and dressed.
“I can’t eat right now,” he declared.
“A bagel?”
“I’m already late.”
“But I made it for you.”
“I know. But you’ve got to eat….”
Devlin walked over to her and kissed her forehead. “I’ll pick up something on the way, but thanks,” he stated. He packed up his bag and left. She could hear his footsteps and the door opened. His car started but did not rumble. She did, however, hear him take off from the car port.
Lisa exhaled. She felt her eyes water and wondered if she had been a fool. She showered and dressed. She threw away the breakfast and put some tequila in the kiwi juice. She walked over to her desktop studio. The square boxes consisted of six executives.
A little pep allowed her to pursue the day. In search of the best talent, she looked at the screen and made her consistent drive all the more tenacious.
Her CFO Adin Mohberg looked keen. He looked his boss in the eyes.
“We’re hemorrhaging…again. Ever since the site collapsed, we’ve struggled to gain the same audience ever since.”
The CTO spoke up next. She seemed pert.
“Yes, the tech is still really shaky and we’re having trouble with the board becoming glitchy.”
“I’d like to see data,” Lisa announced.
“Audience retention is at thirty percent down from sixty-six percent.”
“We’re losing two million dollars a day.”
“We will improve. I know we will. Let’s go.”
