Lisa ambled down the boulevard in Wilmington, Delaware. Lights flashed and cars honked. She didn’t know if those illuminations and sounds were for her or at random until….
“Hey, you’re Businessgirl!” A youngish man called Carvey shouted from his car.
“Let me take a selfie with you. I mean, please?”
Lisa smiled. “Of course. No issue.”
She took the photo with the young supporter and he rushed off into the night. Lisa’s head spun. She thought about the past few months as a defender of the entrepreneurially inclined. She paused. In her head, she could only think of the streets. The emptiness of the passageways between buildings and the shuttered houses that lined the block just adjacent to hers.
As she walked, she knew she had no superpowers to fend off any would-be attacker(s). What she kept in mind remained the audacity to continue walking. She had purchased a fine automobile with the proceeds from Loreen and her adventures. Walking suited her, though. Like a mobile billboard broadcasting her business wares and captain of industry attitude, she maintained a quick gait.
As ideas rushed through her head, she reflected on how much the First State had embraced Loreen and her. Save for the fans of the Collectivists, the idea of their sovereignty over business stirred up in her like an angry sea. That mixture of pleasure and agony led her to have to sit on the curb for a moment. Another car approached. Someone stepped out of the vehicle. It was a smartly dressed woman named Elga in high stilettos.
“C’mon. Let’s get you home, Businessgirl.”
“You know where I live?”
“Everyone in Delaware knows where you live! Let’s go.”
Lisa finally took charge when they arrived.
“Thank you for this. I appreciate your benevolence,” Lisa intoned.
“It’s nothing. Really!”
