Businesswoman Chapter 337
Moment
On a snowy beach, Lisa and Devlin roamed over the sand. Though frigid, they felt a warmth between them. There existed a sense of peace. In Lisa’s mind, the fire of the past few weeks had smoldered and a few sparks jumped up from the coals of her thoughts.
“I’m glad we’re down here,” she remarked.
“Yes, no one’s out here,” Devlin replied.
“It’s not just that…there's tranquility here. I mean if there were people there would be sound but the snow has created natural acoustics to block out the noise. And that’s still not it. There’s a way that I am savoring these moments with you.”
“I totally understand. With you, there’s always peace.” She glanced up at him, and saw the curve of his mandible of his strong jaw. She noticed the contract of his oak wood colored skin.
“We should get back though. We can have hot cocoa and popcorn,” she suggested.
Devlin took a look at his smartwatch. “I’ve gotta go back up north….” Devlin admitted.
“I thought you said you didn’t need to be in any business until all this is cleared.”
“I said we’d be together today. Right now. Let’s enjoy this right now, this moment, while we can….” he reassured.
Lisa’s face looked like a shattered mirror. She tried to lift up her visages. With his thumb, Devlin brought her face to his. He kissed her mouth.
“Once I land this deal, we’ll be able to be here during the summer. I’ll have enough money to cancel both our jobs for three months.”
“I can already do that. I prefer to work,” she asserted.
“You shouldn’t. It’s about relaxing.”
“Now, I know you jest.”
“I’m serious,” he replied.
“And I’m serious about my work,” she retorted. “Let’s not fight. Let’s enjoy this moment.”
