Businesswoman Chapter 316
Loreen sweetens the deal
The hum of the Goulding’s battery drove Loreen’s mind. A sense of ease entered her mind for the moment. She felt this way but for a short time as well. Her phone vibrated.
“Mrs. Breen, this is Donnick Waterhouse. It would be a pleasure to have you guide our business. We’re in trouble, to put it bluntly.”
No sighs or rolling of her eyes occurred. Instead, she saw dollar signs.
“What’s the issue?” she asked.
“We’re losing customers based on the shakeup in Congress.”
“But you sell candy.”
“A lot of people aren’t buying our gourmet chocolates because we’re experiencing breakups due to politics.”
“Oh,” Loreen replied. “Simon, drive to Waterhouse Chocolatiers."
She met Waterhouse and shook his hand in front of the offices next to the factory.
“News has been sour considering Congresspeople resigning. Couples who would’ve bought from us are turning away with intensity.”
“All you have to do is flip it on them?”
Waterhouse looked like a cold wind had crossed his face. “Wait, how do you say?”
“The sorry case. After the fight, people are going to want to make up. Your caramel drops and raspberry filled samples always change minds.”
Waterhouse now looked a bit encouraged but still wondered. “What if they don’t make up?”
“That’s the binge factor. It’s not my favorite aspect of the market, but people will stuff their faces with Waterhouse chocolates to quell the pain of the split.”
Waterhouse laughed and showed how Loreen had excellent points. “I like what you’re saying. What you’ve been able to do is give me a new way to market the merchandise. We can have fun with the advertising arm. But one thing’s a pebble in my shoe….”
“What’s that?” Loreen queried.
“Be one of my spokeswomen for the campaigns.
“I have to pass.”
