Lisa walked into her bedroom lazily. She held her heels in her hand and asked Simon to put on some jazz. She leaned her head back and fell onto her pillows like a swan landing on water. She closed her eyes.

The phone rang. She told herself not to answer it. Then she opened her eyes and saw Loreen’s face. A tiny smirk crawled onto hers.

“Yes, ‘Businesswoman’? Do you have any business for me today?”

“Cut it. How are you?”

“I’m well. What’s up?”

“We’ve got another engagement at NSU. It’s not as lucrative, but should still be engaging. It’s about the demonstrations. We don’t even have to talk in long form. There’s going to be a panel with a moderator.”

“Sounds great.”

“Hey, I know the whole thing was crazy but we won the day.”

“That’s true. But what I’m having trouble understanding is the people en masse who support those ideas. Nobody comes out of their mama’s belly with those thoughts. Folks be instructed to think evil thoughts.”

Lisa brushed away a tear. Her voice trembled a bit.

“I didn’t mean to upset you….” Loreen remarked.

“No, it’s cool. I just have a lot going on….”

“I know. the site and everything….”

“And more….”

Loreen sensed Lisa still held onto familial grudges from her past combined with the stresses of running a spectacularly successful company.

“I’d love to do it. When is it?”

“Two weeks from tomorrow.”

“I’ll make arrangements. Lor’?”

“What’s that?”

“When will I find love?”

Loreen didn’t answer immediately. She took a beat and finally said, “Soon and very soon.”

“How did you and Herschel meet again?”

“That’s ancient history compared to you. We were in a chat room and just exchanged emails. From there it was bliss. You’re going to experience that, too.”
