They wanted her back. Loreen dealt with the panoply of investments and projects her family and a certain mysterious note. She had been called to save another business. Donned in a camel hair coat and wearing a robin's egg blue beret, Loreen struck the ground in stilettos.
This time, the enterprise had been struggling to get people back into their stores after a string of robberies.
Merris Gladstone, the owner of the small chain, looked bold in a dark blue suit and green tie and pocket square. It contrasted his brown skin. He stood at six foot four inches. He may have towered over Loreen with her slight stature, but she stood tall on her overwhelming confidence.
“Businesswoman,” Gladstone mentioned, “We’re getting hit. The customers don’t feel safe in my stores. What can you do about this?”
Loreen browsed the aisles. She picked up a can of soup and looked at the expiration date. Her eyebrows raised. She then replaced the can and ensured the front faced outboard. Then came a stop.
“I’m impressed at how clean and welcoming your store is,” Loreen observed. “The sad part is that people take that for granted. They find it as an easy mark. What did the police make of the security footage?”
“They found it inconclusive,” Gladstone admitted.
“Okay,” Loreen announced. “You’re going to put guards armed with nonlethal guns.”
“Won’t that turn off the people who just want to get groceries?”
“No, it will provide a sense of security to your shoppers. They will know that they won’t be caught up in a crime and possibly injured or worse,” she explained.
“Okay, I go get some toy cops and that’s supposed to solve things?” Gladstone asked.
“No, you find the sentinels to protect this place.”
“Here’s to you Businesswoman,” he replied.
