Cash in hand, Loreen greeted her landscaper, her domestic engineer, her chef, and her grounds manager.

“You all deserve this,” Loreen smiled and returned to her desk. Smiles plastered the faces of her illegal workers. They went home knowing of their worth.

Loreen continued with her projects. She wanted to ensure she could continue in the same manner as anyone else with foreign helpers. This prompted her to start brewing a private, for-profit business that would shield these workers from criminality.

In her mind, she could build this business and relish the time she took to construct it. There seemed to be a time for her, an open window to see through with an active, thinking brain.

She withdrew a pencil from her mug and started to jot. Like lightning hitting pavement, her furious strokes filled the pages and passed the margins. The business plan looked clean and clear. Each section called for new ways to process illegals and bring them into nationhood.

To flip their illegal immigrant status, she knew she couldn’t just institute a business as such. Laws had to be changed. There had to be a calculus of how many illegals lived in Delaware. What took so long for everyone to see Loreen could view with pinpoint precision.

With the sheet of paper next to her, she proceeded to enter the writings into her computer. They were like lines of code; strands of numbers, letters, and figures all displayed throughout and made the entire page sing.

Loreen thought for a moment. With all the shootings and other disturbances in America, for people to claw and swim and fight to come to these shores to work and produce and make their own lives better, that registered as supremely selfish and admirable. She finished typing and saved the document.
