Loreen felt compelled to work in her garden. As she pruned the tomatoes, tomato cherries, and cucumbers, figures ran through her head. In a sense, she remained at her desk, crunching numbers and pruning her investment portfolio. A call came in and she rocketed from a kneeling position to her feet.
“Mrs. Breen speaking, how may I direct your call?”
“You know it’s me, Loreen,” Lisa chimed.
“I do. What’s up?”
“I’m in a position to start my own dating service and I’m going to need a c-suite.”
“No problem, I can forward you my contacts who would be able to fit the bill.”
“Great. Are you terribly busy?” Lisa asked.
“Just with some arugula. What’s going on?”
“I just want this online thing to work out. I’ve not dabbled in site creation since I started my last 501 (c) (3).”
“No worries,” Loreen assuaged. “Like I said, there’s a team who can have all your problems solved.”
“Will I ever find love?”
Loreen sighed. “Of course you will,” she replied. “With you taking on this new venture, there’s going to be plenty of suitors. You’re Businessgirl. You can do anything.”
“I don’t know. I just feel so bottled up and depressed. I feel like I don’t know how to relate to most of the men I’ve dated.”
“There’s no problem with that. You’re selective. You want the right one. That takes time. All you have to do is stay keen on what you want out of life. Never forget to be selfish.”
It was like wings grew on Lisa’s back. She soared around her spacious apartment.
“Thanks, Loreen.”
“Absolutely.”
Loreen ended the call with Lisa and frowned. News reports of the Collectivists staging riots in downtown Wilmington flashed across her screen.
“This may continue now, but not for long.”
