At the time the train had reached the platform, Lisa had already made two million dollars. She wore a red blazer with black buttons. Her ensemble matched the bottom of her shoes. The existence of her companies that had developed before she had become Businessgirl had flourished. She enjoyed the money, yes, but the fact that she had generated it enlivened her.
Once at her seat, she looked at her phone and saw everything in the green. Except, there stood a glaring percentage in the red.
Her company that produced safety needles for heroin users started to drop.
She started to research. What she found surprised her. The people of Wilmington had declined the usage of the drug and no longer needed the needles. The medical facilities which she sold them to had stopped orders.
a twinge in her soul pervaded her being. At this news, she relished the fact that she could cancel this order in Delaware and send it to Baltimore or Washington, D.C. Through this lesson in how to deal with basic economics, she could understand that she could take a loss and still profit.
That’s what people got wrong, she thought. Even in 501 (c) (3) “nonprofit” organizations, you profit if not materially, but spiritually.
Profits of the spirit bring into focus the power to create value despite not making a dime sometimes.
Lisa arose from her seat and bounded onto the platform. After signing a few autographs in Newark, she headed to Martin University.
“We’re so glad you could make it,” university president Borges Pompey smiled.
He was slight but sturdy. He had specks of gray in a balding head and in his beard. His voice seemed a few notes lower than the average man. He stood at six feet two inches. They walked.
