Businesswoman Chapter 224
World
A fountain nearby dribbled water. This did not inhibit journalist Ackerman McConick. He wore gray dress pants and a blue tieless blazer and polo shirt. It just made him project a bit more. Seated across from him sat Fascinder. He wore a black suit with a white tie and loafers.
“Tell me how you got this opulence….”
“I come from a rich family. They made kitchen appliances back in the day. We’re all living off of that.”
"Don't you think that’s a contradiction?”
Fascinder cleared his throat. “No, not at all. When they sold their company, my grandparents knew that someday there would be someone like me who would advocate for their business, just with government involvement….”
“You mean intrusion….”
“I mean that the government must be there to regulate and control enterprises. It’s the way to keep us human. We have to make sure that everyone does not stand on principle.”
“But isn’t that a principle in itself?” McConick asked.
Fascinder’s face contorted into some raw, cold smile like he enjoyed the pain of a toothache.
“What we’re doing is advocating for allowing businesses to do their thing but we must continue down the pathway of retaining dollars. We haven’t implemented it in the world writ large but hey, we’re trying.”
McConick plowed forward. “So you all live in this mansion together. How does that work?”
“We’re the Collectivists. Yes, our parties have had their differences in the past….”
“Bloody ones….” interjected McConick.
“Yes. But that’s the old guard. We’re called to be together to not lean on our own understanding but be convicted by the fact we must look after each other. We have to be a group over everything.”
“So where does this all lead?” McConick questioned.
“This leads to the world take over,” Fascinder stated smugly.
