Back to business, the “Corporation Doctor” Loreen Breen, found herself in a pickle…almost literally. Suzette Camber, 52, with black jeans and a gray t-shirt and red pumps walked around her desk. Loreen wore tan slacks and a white shirt that seemed to cling to her petit figure as if it were sculpted to her frame.
Suzette had an issue with a rival company. They made pickle ball equipment. She built her company using tennis equipment. The supposed offending corporation had allegedly taken the design of their paddles from her rackets.
“I hate to say it but it’s a racket. I mean….” Suzette made the image of her mind exploding. She looked about ten years younger and the red lipstick and coiffed hair knocked off more years.
“I can help,” Loreen said with confidence.
Her brown eyes focused on the racket and paddle in question. There was no question that this was a knock-off of her work.
“What we can do is line you up with the best corporate lawyers in the state who handle this kind of litigation,” Loreen reassured.
“All we have to do is get the offender….”
“Pickle Flies®,” Suzette piped up.
“Yes, get them into a lawsuit. I’ll take $10 million off top but you’ll be able to skate with close to $80 million in damages. The judge will have to rule in your favor. This is such an obvious case of counterfeit goods it’s not even funny.”
“I thank you.” Suzette announced this as if saluting Loreen. She seemed to have enough esteem for a fellow businesswoman.
“It’s what I do,” Loreen uttered with a sincere sigh. The women had been sitting but when Suzette rose, so did Loreen.
“I’ll draw up the contracts and ensure that you get paid,” Suzette made her words ironclad.
“Yes.”

Sharp, stylish, and satisfyingly clever. This chapter blends corporate intrigue with quick wit, and Loreen’s calm authority continues to shine. Loved the wordplay and the smooth rhythm—it’s a short scene, but it packs punch.
