With a width of ten feet and a height of nine feet, the wall with the cascading water and koi fish in her home seemed to provide Loreen’s sense of stability and ease of mind. She breathed. After her meeting with her mother, she needed to find solace in her place of work. She looked at the koi and heard the burbling of the water.
She sat at her desk and looked straight ahead and outlined her MasterMind Class. When the words flowed, she had completed the task and felt a rush of satisfaction. Something still nagged her. The idea of her mother being such a presence in her life felt like a blanket covering her flaming mind. Whenever she proposed something of worth to Lucy, she always shot back with a “don’t disturb my spirit.” This phrase came about despite whatever positive idea Loreen could present to her.
To complicate things, Lucy always invoked some supernatural, extrasensory ideal that she always suppressed but sometimes let slip at different points. This occurred until Loreen sat down and figured that she would keep her sanity by not suggesting anything. In her moments of distress, she felt as if she could go past the irony that arose when she tried to speak of reason and truth. Lucy always felt that this was just some talking and not everything related to reality.
Loreen got up and Hershel was at the door.
“You’re working late….” he smiled. It was a warm little smirk that now felt like a comfort blanket.
“I just had to perfect the piece. What’s up?”
“I wanted to know if you wanted a movie with some wine downstairs,” he suggested.
“That sounds fine. I’ll be down in a moment.” Hershel backed away and took the elevator down to the theater.
