When Loreen received the text message she trembled with joy. She looked at the figures on the screen. Eight figures reflected from her phone. The amount of time she put into those courses kept her together. She wanted to burst out of her bed and stomp all over it. She refrained. Air expelled from her lungs.

Her eyes closed. She opened them and noticed the taxes. They stood in the six figures. This sobering fact oozed into her consciousness.

She thought of the alphabet soup government organizations she repelled. Virtually all of them except the military, law courts, and cops. Loreen breathed. She rolled her eyes and sighed.

“We’ve gotta fight,” she spoke in an inward manner. Atkinson called her phone. She journeyed to her study.

“I know you just got the balance. Don’t tell me. I don’t have to know.”

“Well, we’ll leave it at that,” Loreen replied.

“I can hear your smile,” Atkinson admitted.

“Yes, but it’s soured by taking a look at the payment for governmental services.”

“We’ve gotta fight,” Atkinson reminded her.

“Yes.”

“What is the percentage of the taxes?”

“Forty percent.” she acknowledged.

“Jesus,”Atkinson replied.

“We can lick this with every business we help, every for-profit company, and every course we teach. I know we can,” Loreen brimmed with optimism.

“We will lick this and have enough freedom in spades. That’s our power. Not superpower but more effective because it’s grounded in reality. We’re not some vigilante of the night, either,” Atkinson reminded again.

“It’s the goddamn politicians who don’t really care about the individual but to seize power in big chunks,” Loreen’s voice raised a bit.

“It’s alright. It’s all about ideas. They can pervade even the lowest of cultures. America hasn’t stooped that low…yet,” Atkinson suggested.

“I just know what I know.”

Taxes being 40% is rough. But we can fight back with our work, like Loreen said.

  • Hmmm!! Loreen doesn't like to pay taxes. I don't either. Unfortunately taxes must be paid 😂🌹😂
