Federal agencies disbanded. One of them, the United States Automobile Department (USAD) , had been sold to a private company called ThruMotors. Loreen hosted Lisa and Atkinson.
“Alright, we won’t be getting paid as much as we do with the talks, but this company is excelling. It is showing that private enterprise is the only option when it comes to processing business concerns,” she intoned in her living room. Atkinson sipped water while Lisa put a fist under her chin and listened intently.
“So,” Loreen continued, “We’re each going to get five million for our efforts. I know it’s not a lot, but this firm is successful and gaining strength every day. Anything to keep USAD out of the market place would be welcome.”
“Yes, and what we can do is help out ThruMotors in their quest for self-actualization,” Atkinson mentioned.
“The problem persists, however,” Lisa interjected. “A big bureaucracy like USAD employed thousands of workers. ThruMotors may have just over a thousand…now.”
Loreen became animated like one of those books that showed a drawing and on each page the figure seemed to move about in a lively way. She kept her momentum.
“That’s just it! We’re going to go to them and show the evils of government involvement in the economy. We’re going to display the need for more freedom in the country as far as the various ways of offering a product or service are concerned,” Loreen nearly jumped.
“I can take the pay cut. I can write this one off, I’m sure. We’ll be working on eliminating taxes,” Atkinson reminded.
“So that we’re on the same page, we’re going down there to Kent County to address the issue or can we go to one here?” Lisa asked.
“We can stay right here in Newark,” Loreen acknowledged Lisa.
