Businesswoman Chapter 140
She refused to cry….

A sweet slumber held Lisa. Her body ached and her mind sought rest to repair that body. This compared to a miner extracting coal from a shaft. That bruising feeling of satisfaction from a full day’s work propelled her sleep. Then her alarm clock blared. She put her hand on her chest as she rocketed up from her pillow. Her eyes widened.
“I’m not late. I’m not late,” she reminded herself. She prepared a remote video session with her board of directors for one of her companies.
She dressed and ate half a grapefruit and some coffee. Her next move led her to her notes. With every thought on the page, she memorized key points like a monk studying ancient scrolls. By coming to the realization that she could power through this meeting, Lisa knew she had to bring the full armor of reason. The time came. She entered the room and allowed everyone to get engaged.
“Good morning, everyone. We’re going to start—”
A woman with a slightly cute face and a crooked smile spoke. “I’m sorry Lisa, we held a vote before this session. We’re not going forward with this company. We’re going to sell our shares and just back out of the firm.”
Lisa remained stunned. “Why? What happened?”
“To put it simply, you happened. Your progress as some heroine to the businessperson has taken precedence over our dealings. We appreciate your efforts, but it seems like you’re not devoting yourself to the cause as much anymore….” Bobbito Sanz acknowledged.
Lisa felt a cold ice pick pierce her soul. She refused to cry.
“Okay. This is business. I have to respect your decisions. I will distribute your shares and have a fire sale and continue from there. If nothing else is to be discussed, we will adjourn.”
