Businesswoman Chapter 137
Beast

Loreen selected the 1971 Diamondhead Sport One. Metallic gold with silver rims, it had actually gained in value over the years. Once she fastened her seatbelt, she turned over the engine. The pur from this beast enlivened her. She used the manual transmission like a ringmaster, guiding the vehicle with precision and poise. Gravel spit as she put the car in drive.
The open road beckoned for her latest adventure. She had to clear the cache in her mind. With each gear change, she felt the power of the seven hundred horses underneath her. This latest excursion meant that she could focus on her businesses without being tied behind a desk. This remained her office. The sound of the gears shifting made her think of how she could focus on gaining even more money from her speaking engagements.
By gripping the wheel with the slightest touch, she still felt the pangs of Atkinson and Lisa not going to be at her next talk. Of course she could do it all alone, but she sensed that they should come along for the ride as well. The drive she put herself on now stretched along the highway. She checked her speedometer occasionally, to avoid being stopped by a cop.
It happened anyway. Loreen pulled over to the side of the road. Officer Angelina Castino approached the vehicle. As a classic car, Loreen had to roll down her window physically and literally.
“License, registration, and proof of insurance, please,” Officer Castino asked in a monotone.
Loreen presented all of her information.
Officer Castino brightened. “Hey, you’re Businesswoman!”
“That I am.”
“I really enjoy your talks. They’re an inspiration.”
“Thank you.”
“I must say, this is a sweet ride. I didn’t even clock you over the limit. You have a busted rear left taillight.”
