Businesswoman Chapter 13
Loreen meets a captain of industry in aviation
With a simple video chat, Loreen joined in with Breaker CEO Rawson Mode.
“Hold on, where are you?” Loreen asked.
“I’m in Wilmington at the hangar.”
“Great. I’ll be there in a few.”
Once she had arrived, she shook hands with Mode.
“Mr. Mode, ever since there’s been aviation in this country, there’s been the threat or the intrusion of governmental regulations. I’m fighting to keep your planes in the air.”
“Thank you Businesswoman.”
“Just call me Loreen.”
“Okay.”
“Now, what we must focus on are the grubby little bureaucrats who wish to not see progress in action, literally. They’ll whine that the plane is a danger and that it is disruptive with its sonic boom. They’re worse than the sludge at the bottom of your shoe. At least it can be a lubricant. They wish to dry up ideas.”
Mode looked stunned. “So what can you do?”
“You’ve paid me so I already filed a petition to have all regulators removed from this particular project. You will see a groundswell of activity regarding the manufacture, production, and delivery of your aircraft.” Loreen said this with a wink and a smirk.
“I just wrote you a check for five million dollars. You went beyond the deal. How can I properly pay you?”
“You already have properly paid me. I suggest you start preparing for orders. That’s how you pay me. By your sweat and the residue of entrepreneurial endeavor, that is payment for the extra work.”
The extra work meant man hours and time allotted for planning even more projects. With the state officials out of the way, the supersonic jets could simply touch the sky. Loreen signed a document with Mode and they counted this all joy. The glee in his eyes from the relief energized her. She breathed.
