Loreen returned to the Wilmington Private Library. She looked around and felt a chill go through her body. By perusing the sections, she found that there existed no Latin American literature. Incensed, she returned to Dagger.
“Businesswoman….” He whispered this time.
“Loreen is fine,” she replied.
“Of course. What’s the problem?”
“First Russian literature, now Latin American works? Why am I not getting notes on this?”
“It’s above my head. You as a board member should’ve been notified of the absence of these kinds of works.”
Loreen looked down and then up again. “If this is happening here…what is going on with the other libraries?”
Dagger’s visage looked long drawn. It looked like his face could be converted to putty and misshapen.
“I can only say to you, ma’am, that we’re fighting, too. We’re going to petition the board as librarians and try to get back and preserve these riches of the written word.” He spoke as if he were a sentry, a guardian over the various works of sterling authors.
Loreen showed a sugn for Dagger to keep his head like a salute.
“Thank you, Craig. I appreciate you.”
Dagger smiled as Loreen walked away from the desk. She walked out of the library and looked at her smartphone once she got outside. The caller ID read Lisa.
“Tell me it all,” Loreen responded.
“We’ve been asked to visit another private elementary school. They’re talking about eight figures for both of us.”
“I’m glad you’re my partner. You’re money hungry and willing to use your virtues to gain, keep, and or use your values. I’m just surprised they called you first…”
“This was my elementary school before it was privatized,” Lisa explained. “They’re trying to include you because well, you’re you, but they’re targeting me.”
“Okay. Let’s do it.”
