Businesswoman
Before Work is Done
A giant digital screen stood before the team of three.
“This is what I mean…we have to know the name, the design of the logo, discover the color, and make it stick in the minds of the populace,” Hill Nast remarked.
“I’m just going to slash through these ideas,” Pax Grover announced. He struck the letters from the board and they disappeared in the digital atmosphere.
Loreen Breen affixed her tortoise shell framed glasses to her face.
“Simon, undo last action,” she commanded.
“What are you doing?”
“We’re going with Hill’s idea.”
“He accepts that his thoughts are no good.”
“And I say we encourage the ideas that actually work,” Loreen proclaimed.
“Who are you?”
“I’m Businesswoman. You two have been bickering back and forth, quibbling over the most inane details of this fledgling enterprise. Let me help you and you will understand better by and by.”
Grover shot a glance at Nast. They felt burdened, bewildered, and released all at the same time.
“We appreciate it, Loreen. We didn’t know you were a superhero,” he grinned nervously.
“You still don’t. I’m just a heroine saving the companies of this world from destruction, sometimes before they even get started.”
“We’re just getting things going so we appreciate—” Grover started.
“I thank you, but there’s no time for that. Money is time, meaning you save it up like you save time. This is the way to go from now onward, do you understand?”
“Uh, yeah I guess,” Grover replied.
“There is no ‘I guess.’ You both have degrees in engineering and plan to be entrepreneurs and make a lot of cash. Let’s focus on that.”
The two men looked at Loreen with a mixture of curiosity and respect.
“Look, we’re not going to shake hands and smile before work is done.”
