Ash and Bone
Every fairytale ends with a wedding — this one begins with one.

The prince and princess were wed under a sky that burned red. But the kingdom was starving, and the wedding feast consumed the last of their grain. That night, while they slept in silks, the people began to die. The princess woke to find her husband gone — and in his place, a note written in ash:
“Love does not feed the living.”
Desperate, she went to the old witch in the woods, offering her crown for a miracle. The witch smiled and said, “A queen must rule over something.” The next morning, the princess rose over a kingdom of bones — her people returned as ash and shadow.
They bowed to her, silent and loyal, and she ruled in darkness. It’s said that every century, her ashes gather again to form a kingdom that glows faintly at dawn — and she still waits, guarding her feast of ghosts.
