Alice in Wonderland-by Lewis Carroll
A whimsical journey through a fantasy world.

One sunny day, a young girl named Alice sat by the riverbank with her sister. She was feeling bored when suddenly she saw something strange—a white rabbit wearing a coat and holding a pocket watch. The rabbit looked worried and said, “Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be late!”
Curious, Alice jumped up and followed the rabbit. It ran down a rabbit hole, and Alice followed it without thinking. Suddenly, she fell down a deep, dark tunnel. She fell for a long time, past shelves and strange objects, until she landed softly on the ground.
Alice found herself in a small room with many locked doors. On a table was a tiny key and a bottle that said “Drink Me.” She took a sip, and suddenly, she shrank! She was now small enough to fit through the tiny door. On the other side was a beautiful garden, but she had forgotten the key on the table. She was too small to reach it.
Then, she found a little cake that said “Eat Me.” She ate it and grew very, very tall. Now she was too big for the door! Alice cried in frustration, and her giant tears made a large pool on the floor.
Luckily, she found another bottle and drank from it. She shrank again and swam through the pool of her tears. In the pool were many talking animals. She met a Dodo, a Duck, and a Mouse. They all swam to shore and tried to get dry by having a silly “caucus race,” where everyone ran in circles. No one really won, but everyone cheered.
Later, Alice saw the White Rabbit again. He dropped his gloves and fan, and told her to fetch them. In his house, she drank another potion and grew giant again, breaking the furniture. Frightened, the animals outside threw pebbles at her that turned into little cakes. She ate one and shrank back to normal size, then ran out of the house.
In the forest, Alice met a blue Caterpillar sitting on a mushroom, smoking a hookah. He asked her, “Who are you?” Alice wasn’t sure. The Caterpillar told her that one side of the mushroom would make her grow, and the other side would make her shrink. She broke off both sides and used them to get back to a good size.
Next, Alice met a smiling Cheshire Cat in a tree. The cat could disappear and reappear whenever it liked. It told her that everyone in Wonderland was mad—including herself. The cat suggested she visit the Mad Hatter and the March Hare.
At their tea party, Alice met the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, and a sleepy Dormouse. It was a very strange tea party. The table was crowded, and they kept switching seats. They told riddles that made no sense, like “Why is a raven like a writing desk?” Alice got frustrated and left.
She wandered into a garden and saw three gardeners painting white roses red. They were scared because the Queen of Hearts only wanted red roses. Soon the Queen arrived with her guards, and she shouted, “Off with their heads!” She was angry all the time and loved giving orders.
The Queen invited Alice to play a game of croquet. But it was the oddest game—flamingos were used as mallets, and hedgehogs as balls! The players didn’t follow the rules, and the Queen kept shouting for people to lose their heads. No one actually got punished, though.
After the game, Alice met the Mock Turtle and the Gryphon. They told her strange stories and sang silly songs like “The Lobster Quadrille.” Alice tried to understand but felt more confused.
Then came a trial. The Knave of Hearts was accused of stealing the Queen’s tarts. Alice was called as a witness. The King and Queen asked silly questions, and everyone shouted at once. Alice had grown taller again and wasn't afraid. When the Queen shouted, “Off with her head!” Alice stood up and said, “You’re just a pack of cards!”
Suddenly, all the cards flew at her—and she woke up.
Alice was back on the riverbank with her sister. It had all been a dream, a strange and wonderful dream full of talking animals, mad tea parties, and curious adventures.
And though it was only a dream, Alice would always remember her time in Wonderland.
