After Saving Him, I Became the Demon Lord’s Possession 8
Chapter 8: Didn’t You Say You’d Protect Me?

Luna’s gaze snapped to him. Could it be that he wasn’t going to live much longer?
Luna said, “System, I want the files on Fenqing.”
The system quickly opened the data card, projecting the information before her eyes.
[Fenqing: This poison is extremely insidious and strikes without warning. If ingested in childhood, it can lie dormant for years, seeping into the meridians and the Golden Core. When triggered, it reverses the meridians, damages the soul, and causes excruciating pain as if bones are cracking. Note: Those afflicted will sever all emotional attachments, live without love, and will not survive past eighteen years old.]
Soul damage? Severed attachments? Not surviving past eighteen?
What had Chi Su gone through?
Chi Su didn’t seem surprised by her discovery. Calmly, he said, “It seems Lord Ming of the Underworld truly intends to break his promise.”
Si Yin tilted her head, her smile teasing and innocent. “Breaking a promise? Not at all. As long as you help me enter the Immortal Ascension Realm smoothly, the Fenqing antidote and the Sword of Slaughter will be handed to you at any time.”
Luna pondered. Her cultivation was only at the early Huayu stage; challenging Si Yin head-on would barely be a stalemate. Besides, Si Yin was surrounded by numerous experts at the Wenxin Realm.
Since the antidote was in Si Yin’s hands, if Chi Su pretended to comply and bought her time, perhaps she could retrieve it.
Deciding on this, Luna gestured subtly to him, signaling to delay.
Chi Su cast her a glance and nodded.
Luna felt relieved—dealing with a clever person was always easier.
“Do you think I’m a three-year-old child?”
The boy smiled, yet his eyes were empty, pure to the extreme, and utterly merciless. “One broken promise or two… what difference does it make? Lord Ming never intended to honor it anyway, so I’ll take it by force…”
“Take it by force?” Si Yin sneered. “Chi Su, are you sure?”
Before she could finish, the elders behind her sprang into battle.
Luna’s heart sank. So he never intended to listen to her!
She tugged his sleeve. “Hey, we just agreed—”
Chi Su curved his lips and blinked innocently. “Didn’t you say you’d protect me?”
Suddenly, he drew close. A cold gleam flickered in his dark pupils.
A chill ran down Luna’s spine, as if she were being watched.
He spoke coldly: “Or are you not going to keep your promise either?”
Luna’s heart skipped. Stammering, she replied, “I… I would never… I’m a person who keeps her word.”
“Good. I’ll wait for you to honor it.”
The boy straightened, stepped back two paces, and crossed his arms, watching the scene unfold as if expecting a show.
But Luna had no intention of fighting head-on; she wasn’t foolish.
Raising her hand, she formed a formation. Several shining jade butterflies fluttered from her palm, surging like a tidal wave toward Si Yin and the ghostly elders.
The butterflies danced in the air, weaving an illusion.
The group thought them mere trinkets from a young girl, so none tried to defend.
Yet, these seemingly delicate butterflies had wings sharp as blades. In moments, they shredded the robes and flesh of several elders, leaving them nearly bloodied.
As the crowd recovered and moved to strike the girl, they realized that only illusions remained in her place.
Si Yin, furious, pointed at the two who had already reached the window. “Left and right guardians! Six Palace elders! Capture them!”
Luna’s movement was light; she stepped off the window frame.
With her left hand gripping Chi Su’s wrist and the right holding the flying Tianyu Sword, she twisted mid-air and swung backward with force.
The sword’s energy roared like a mountain, its bright light illuminating the night. The small tower behind them was cut in half, collapsing instantly, blocking the ghostly elders who lunged after them.
The two landed on the roof ridge. Luna held Chi Su’s hand tightly, weaving through the alleys and red walls.
The city guards noticed the anomaly. Alarm bells and gongs clashed, and within moments, three to four squads of ghost soldiers, torches blazing like fire dragons, surged toward them.
Luna, notoriously bad with directions and burdened by carrying a grown man, got lost multiple times. Finally, Chi Su had no choice but to drag her forward.
The city lord’s mansion had once been the tomb of an ancient great demon. After twisting and turning through passages, they evaded pursuit and reached a straight corridor.
It was dark and cold, reeking of damp decay. The further they went, the heavier the stench, making it hard to breathe.
Luna stared at him. “Where are we going?”
Chi Su didn’t answer, moving deeper into the corridor.
Unsure of his intentions and worried for his safety, Luna followed.
At the corridor’s end stood a black statue. Chi Su paused before it, lost in thought.
Luna recognized it: the Shadow-Eating Beast statue.
The creature, human-faced but beast-bodied, unsettled her, so she turned her gaze to the murals on the wall.
The Tianyu Sword whispered in her ear: “Luna, Tianyu suspects Chi Su led you here deliberately. Be cautious.”
Luna arched an eyebrow. “Why?”
Tianyu said, “During our escape, I noticed he was very familiar with the City Lord’s Mansion.”
Luna studied Chi Su, back turned to her, and said, “Chi Su, hide somewhere first. I’ll go find the antidote—”
At that moment, a mechanism clicked beneath their feet.
Chi Su turned to her, smiling brightly.
“Found it.”
Luna froze. “Found what?”
Before she could finish, the floor cracked open, revealing a massive chasm.
“Shit!”
Luna felt herself lose weight. Before falling, she grabbed Chi Su’s wrist, pulling him down with her.
The Tianyu Sword emitted a piercing hum, casting light like daylight, but only enough to illuminate the falling walls.
“Tianyu, guide the sword!”
Luna tried to stop their fall, but her cultivation was gone. Tianyu couldn’t halt itself either.
The sword’s light soon dimmed like a mundane blade.
“Damn!” Luna realized, with growing fear, that her powers were gone.
She clutched the sword, trying to slow their fall by embedding it into the wall, but powerless, she failed repeatedly.
Then, a low, amused laugh echoed from the darkness.
A hand wrapped around her waist. Another seized Tianyu, plunging it into the wall. Sparks flew as the sword cut through stone.
The hilt glowed hot. Chi Su’s hand tensed, numbed from the impact, yet he held firm.
Luna, powerless, wrapped herself around the nearest support instinctively.
Just as she feared for her life, their fall slowed. The sword wedged between the walls, halting their descent.
Luna didn’t let go, clutching the boy tightly.
Chi Su pushed off, lifting them slightly before landing steadily on the blade.
The sword was thin; supporting both was taxing, but made of divine iron, it wouldn’t break.
Luna exhaled slowly. “You scared me…”
The boy’s breath brushed her ear. Chi Su tilted his head slightly, teasing.
Luna noticed and asked, “What is it?”
Chi Su said, “You’re too heavy.”
Luna: “….”
No need to be so blunt.
