Lucy's family lives in a rented house. A small house built at the end of a narrow street, whose walls were clearly showing moisture and cracks due to aging.
When Kezia and her father entered the house, they heard the loud, harsh voice of the landlord.
You make the same excuse every time: if you don't have money, then get out of my house right now; I can't tolerate you anymore." Saying this, the landlord threw an empty bottle on the ground with force, which broke and the glass scattered on the floor.
Lucy's father, who had been ill for the last few months, was standing with his head bowed down; a deep tiredness and helplessness were visible in his eyes. His trembling lips were trying to say something, but his words got stuck in his throat.
Probably, Lucy's father who was ill for the last few months, was not able to pay the house rent on time, and mercy or a little soft behavior cannot be expected from the landlord of the house. The landlord was drunk at that time, and he was abusing Lucy's father. his wife was also supporting him fully. There was not even a trace of sympathy in her eyes.
In a corner of the room, Lucy, her mother, and her younger brother were standing absolutely silent. There was a deep sadness and anger in their eyes. Embarrassed, everyone there was staring at them. Lucy's fingers were clutching her mother's leather coat tightly. Lucy's mother had her son in her arms. Lucy's eyes were fixed on the floor; there was nothing in those eyes except a deep sadness and shame.
The landlord became quiet as soon as Kezia's father entered the room, he walked up to Lucy's father, dodging the pieces of glass scattered on the floor, he took a deep long breath, discomfort was clearly visible on his face, he could feel the burden of this humiliation, which was being put on this family.
He quietly gave some money to the landlord, which was almost enough to cover the rent for the last few months. The landlord took the money without hesitation; he only cared about his rent, and after that, he and his wife left from there. The people who had gathered there had now left.
Kezia was very sad to see this scene; she went to Lucy and looked into her eyes, which were still dripping tears as if every drop of pain was flowing peacefully, but Lucy was completely calm. She hugged Kezia tightly, and now she started crying. Her sobs were breaking the cold silence of the room. Kezia felt that even the air of this house was heavy, laden with pain, humiliation, and helplessness.

Congratulations this is a touching story. You were able to write about the fear and uncomfortable moment with the landord, and the confusion of a child who is somehow aware of what is happening.

Such a good chapter and it could even still happen today. Good job.
Aww... This was an emotional scene 🥺 How humiliating it must have been for the father and Lucy. Thank God, at least the landlord left! And also, I'm relieved no one died. Now, I'm dying to read the ending 😄
