A Forgotten Dream

Last chapter

The next morning, Kezia’s father received a letter from the police station, ordering him to appear there immediately. He did not tell Kezia about this. She didn’t go to school today, and Lucy didn’t go to school either. Kezia could clearly understand why Lucy wasn’t going to school today.

At the police station, they went directly to Mr. Patrick’s office, from whom the letter had come.

The police officer said with cold seriousness, “Mr. Erik Lindberg, we have called you regarding a robbery and a double murder that occurred ten years ago. You are under suspicion, and we have sufficient evidence and witnesses against you to prove that you were involved in the crime.” Mr. Patrick placed a thick file in front of him and stared at him intently.

When Mr. Patrick mentioned Kezia’s father’s name, his face turned pale, and his whole body began to tremble. The fear was clear in his eyes. His heart began to race, and he lowered his gaze. He had completely erased his old identity, but now his truth had been exposed. A deep regret was tightening his soul.

Yes! I was involved in that incident, but I didn’t kill anyone, nor did I steal anything. I swear,” Erik Lindberg said nervously.

That couple had a two-year-old daughter. Where is she now? Or did you...?” Mr. Patrick interrupted.

The little girl is with me. After the incident, I took her with me. She still lives with me,” Erik Lindberg said in a tone full of shame.

“What is that girl’s name?” Mr. Patrick asked. “Ke... Kezi... Kezia!” As Erik Lindberg said this, he began to cry. Mr. Patrick left, and another police officer took Erik Lindberg into custody.

Sometime later, the police went to Kezia and told her everything. Kezia couldn’t bear the truth; she didn’t even dare to face the man again. She began to cry, and her soul couldn’t endure the unbearable pain. She came home. When Lucy and her parents found out that Kezia was a victim of such a terrible and painful past, they immediately went to meet her at her house.

Kezia was standing outside her house, with a large bag in her hand and another bag hanging from her back.

When Lucy looked into Kezia’s eyes, she started to cry. Her mother hugged Kezia, her heart full of deep concern and sympathy.

“Where are you going, Kezia?” Lucy said in an emotional voice.

Kezia said with complete seriousness, “To find answers.”

Lucy’s mother said, “You don’t need to go anywhere, my dear child, we are with you.” Lucy nodded, “We will all be together,” she said.

No! I have to go. There is no longer any reason for me to stay here even for a moment,” Kezia said.

Are you really leaving me?” Lucy’s voice was filled with anxiety and the pain of breaking apart. Her eyes were filled with tears, as she couldn’t believe her dearest friend was leaving.

No! If God wills, we will meet again, dear! But I am leaving now, and this is my final decision.”

I will pray to God that wherever you go, you are happy.” With these words, Lucy hugged Kezia tightly, and both of them started to cry.

Breaking the cold silence after some time, Kezia spoke her final words and slowly began to walk away. “If God accepts your prayer, then also pray this, ‘Crush the world, and make it again.

Omg, So she wasn't her daughter after all! The last line was everything! That's how you end a story. 👏 The dissapointment and hope in Kezia seems unmatched in the last part. I loved this series... It was worth reading ✨🤝
