Chapter 3

Top Story - December 2024

It was a charming and cleverly executed deception. "Which drowned Benjamin's dream world in the dark depths of the ocean." The world that he was living with opened his eyes and consciousness from his soul, but a storm of greed blew away everything.

Moses Kingsley who was his grandpa Henry's business partner. "He was entrusted with the responsibility of all the preparations for that sea voyage." And how could he miss this opportunity, he made the ship in such a weak condition, "that it was not capable of surviving in any storm," even after knowing that "the weather has been continuously deteriorating for the last few days, and there is a possibility of an even more terrible storm in the future," he sent Henry and his family on the sea voyage. And what happened was exactly what he had expected. "Henry's entire family perished in that accident, except Benjamin.

"But nobody cares now whether Benjamin is alive or dead. Benjamin himself is oblivious to the fact that "what he has lost is not lost by him. Rather, it has been snatched away from him."

After that day, he has been wandering from door to door with that burden on his heart. He knocked on the door of his house and was rebuked from outside. Now, whatever was his was no longer his.

Despite his past being so terrible and painful, Benjamin wants to see himself happy and free from sorrows and pain. Certainly, he was not the most unhappy person in this world, "that's what he believed," but he was a living person in this world, so he had to live. He accepted all the disasters and terrible situations happening in his life as a challenge.

One day, he was passing through a dark forest; he had faced such experiences many times in his life. But he had never spent the night in a deserted forest. "This time, he had to do this out of compulsion; there was a turmoil in his stomach, and with every step, he felt as if "an empty pit inside him was getting deeper. Which for days was just getting bigger." He had tasted only dry roots and rotten fruits.

"Hunger was peeking out of his intestines." Due to hunger, everything in front of his eyes was slowly becoming blurred. "His lips were chapped, his throat was dry, so he used up the two sips of water that he had saved." Now it seemed as if his last hope had also gone down his throat. "He thought that today he would die of hunger and thirst. But there was a spark inside him that was pushing him forward; he thought this was the last night of his life. But still, there was hope somewhere, which was not letting him fall.

But he was still searching for a safe place with one last hope, so he was wandering here and there in the forest." Then his eyes fell on a ruined house. "He was surprised, it was difficult to even imagine life in this deserted and dark forest. So he stood gazing at the ruins for a while, then he took a deep breath and hastened his steps towards the wonderful place. On reaching the place he stumbled and fell several times and received minor injuries. "But those wounds were nothing compared to the wounds in his heart.

He entered the ruins, but the house looked small from the outside but was much larger inside than he had expected. Moonlight from the broken roof spread across the floor and walls. The walls were covered with moss and vines, and dust and cobwebs were spread all around. Strange pictures were painted on the walls, which he could not decipher. There was a strange silence all around. Then Benjamin's eyes fell on an old chest; he cleaned the dust off it and opened it.

"It contained many old guns, some leather-bound books, and some rusted swords and daggers. Finally, his eyes fell on a cloth bundle," he poured it on his hand, "and his hand was filled with shining diamonds. His eyes lit up at this, but the diamonds were of no use to him at the moment, so he put them back in the same place.

He was looking for something edible, and luckily he saw a grapevine, "Oh God, your support matters. Thank you a million times," he said to himself.

He pounced upon the grapes as if he was seeing them for the first time in his life, and within no time all the grapes started disappearing from the vine. "Benjamin got some relief now, his hunger and thirst were satiated.

After getting rid of hunger, he immersed himself in those books. But all the books were empty except one book. "The book, whose pages were full, had a strange picture drawn on its cover. "In which a man was eating a newborn baby alive. "Its teeth were stuck in the baby's neck. And blood was flowing from its mouth and the baby's neck." Seeing this, Benjamin's bones shuddered, and he became a little frightened.

He lit the torches scattered around, "he knew how to light a fire." This calmed down the darkness in the ruins as well as the fear raging in Benjamin's heart.

Oh my gosh. This story is like the diamonds Benjamin found, and the fact that he didn’t store them for himself really showed just how hungry he was. And that book he found near the end… wow, I wasn’t expecting that to be on the front cover. The other books that were empty intrigued me. I feel really invested in this story, Benjamin trying to survive is such a compelling plot one that is deeply enjoyable to read, though I feel sad for all his loss. The fact that his loss wasn’t natural, it was planned by Moses Kingsley, really makes me feel angry on Benjamins behalf. Congratulations on your Top Story πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰πŸ‘ŒπŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ€—β™₯️
