1/0: Entries from the End Times
Episode 10: Ninth Circle
“Where are you going?” I muttered, shrugging Etan’s leather jacket off my shoulders, and lifting my face from the warm, firm cushion of his chest.
“Neon Jerusalem.” He shoved the gear to Park and pressed a soft kiss to my temple before unbuckling his seat belt and popping the door open.
My brows raised so high, I thought they would peel off my skull and drop to the carpet. “We’re here?” I reached for the handle on my side, but he grabbed me by the elbow and shook his head firmly.
“No, let me check it out first.”
“I don’t like the idea of leaving you alone.”
He traced the crucifix resting over his heart. “I won’t be.”
“Hey –” I rolled the window down and leaned out “– do you think they’ll let us practice that dance you taught me?”
“I could teach you much more than that dance,” he cracked with a wink.
“There may be no speed limits in the end times,” I cracked back with a slight smile, “but I have mine.”
He pecked my cheek. “As you should.”
I watched him walk away.
Maybe I should let go of that limit.
I dragged my gaze off his behind, sighing sharply and shaking my head at myself. And to think that I had thought of him as the harlot.

Goddamnit, I knew I shouldn’t have left you alone!
Don’t move a muscle, I’m coming over.

Yeah, take His name in vain.
That’ll bring His kingdom back for sure.

First of all, don’t use my own words against me.
Second of all, don’t use the Word against me.
Third of all, what do you mean ‘bring His kingdom back?’

It doesn’t exist.
<message id = 39>

Look, I’ll come back, and we can look at the map again, and you can direct me this time. We’ll find another way.
<message id = 41>

That’s okay.
<message id = 42>
<participant id =0></participant>
It’s not okay.
So much for ‘Rejoice always.’

Come back.
Let’s go get groceries.
<message id = 46>
<participant id = 0></participant>
No, this isn’t okay, I led you on.
And I made a whole mess out of your life.
<message id = 47>
<participant id = 1></participant>
Hey, you might not have led me to Neon Jerusalem.
But you led me to another kind of eternal life.
So, come back.
I’ll cook oyster omelettes for dinner.
We’ll feed the dog.
<message id = 48>
<participant id = 0></participant>
And the iguana.
<message id = 49>

And dance?
<message id = 50>
<participant id = 1></participant>
And dance.

This story's got some tension. The worry about being alone and the talk of the end times makes it an interesting read.
