"The Middle Finger Project" Book Review
Self-help Book Review

The Middle Finger Project is the inspiring story of how Ash Ambirge overcame her difficult past and became a successful entrepreneur. Her story is a wonderful example of how you can stop being a victim of circumstance and create your own path. It is chock-full of motivation, so much so that I found myself constantly snapping photos of lines or even full paragraphs that struck me. She makes you feel like you aren’t the fuckup that you think you are, that your ideas matter, and that the world needs you. “…do not play small because someone else is uncomfortable. Play bigger, because there are people who need exactly what you want to create, and who will be so, so grateful that you did. DO. NOT. SHRINK.” She’s an A+ cheerleader whom I’d love to have as a friend.
One of the biggest takeaways for me was how she reframes the idea of money. It’s not the root of all evil, as the saying goes. It is, in fact, a virtue. So often as women, we’re fed this idea that money is shameful. There’s this nasty implication in our society that if a woman is wealthy, it’s because she’s a bitch, a slut, a gold-digger, or worse. “But making money is a good deed because it means you are doing things that are useful to other people.” Ash gives you the tools for understanding the world and your place in it as a creator.
All that being said, if you’re looking for a book that gives you guidance on how to fully realize your passions or what exact steps you should take, you may want to look elsewhere. (She does offer courses for this on her website though.) But if you already know the path you want to create for yourself and are just too scared to get started, then I wholeheartedly recommend this.
