
Imoro The Soccer Maestro
Imoro was a boy of age 12 who lived with his parents in a village. His parents were poor. He attended the community development basic school of their village. His community had a river which was the only source of water of the people in the village.
Despite his parents were poor, he was satisfied with what he had. Imoro was a bright student and he liked playing football. All tutors and students in his school liked him because he was humble and respectful.
Imoro had only one school uniform. He managed to save money to buy a soccer boot because he loved football.
Every two years in their region, a sporting was organized. Imoro’s school participated. He was part of the football team. He and his team trained hard for weeks towards the sporting competition.
He was appointed as the captain of his team because he was a skillful player and he respected everyone.
After much anticipation, the week for the sporting competition came. The competition began. Imoro and his team won the opening matches with ease. They qualified for the quarter finals.
They won the quarter finals on a lucky penalty shootout. The semi final was a difficult one but Imoro scored a hat trick against his opponents.
The final was a disastrous one. Three of Imoro’s teammates got injured. The final was a disastrous one but with skill and determination Imoro scored a one goal winner for his team. Their school won the competition and they were presented with a trophy, gold medals and a cash prize.
A man saw Imoro’s performance and he decided to help him. He told Imoro that he had an academy that develops football talents. Imoro told his parents and they agreed. Imoro told his teachers and friends.
His best friend escorted him to the bus station on the day of his departure.
Imoro left his village. He went to the academy in the city. He trained and learned new skills from his training coaches. Imoro and the academy won six trophies at his seven years stay at the academy.
Imoro got promoted to the national team. Imoro and his team mates qualified for the world cup. Imoro performed marvelously in all the games he played. He had an injury in the round of sixteen. He did not play the quarter final but his team won the game. He played the semi final and he scored a late goal to book his country a place in the world cup final.
The final was very tough. At the end of the first half, the score line was 1-1. Imoro scored a late bicycle kick in the 90th minute. At the end the result was 2-1 in favour of Imoro and his team.
Imoro gave his country their first world cup. They received the trophy and medals.
They were welcomed in their country like a hero’s welcome. The president of Imoro’s country gave Imoro a house and 8,000,000 dollars.
Imoro the little boy from the village became a soccer maestro that made his country popular over seas.
Moral lesson: Every dream is achievable. Don’t look at yourself today and say you cannot achieve the impossible. No dream is too big.
