The Clay People

Chapter 3

By Rob🦜Published about a year ago • 1 min read

Life in Thrum was harsh but close-knit. The Clay People were known for their craftsmanship, their works prized across Elyndor. However, they were also scorned by many for their humble origins and lack of magic.

Zayn’s father had died when he was a child, leaving him the man of the house. Every day, he worked tirelessly to ensure his siblings went to bed with full bellies. But the weight of responsibility didn’t crush his dreams—it fueled them.

He would often sit by the river at sunset, his reflection shimmering in the water, and imagine himself wielding magic like King Kaelion. In his fantasies, he stood at the head of an elite army, his enemies trembling before him.

But there was a cruel irony to his dream: the path to joining the elite Bloodguard required the slaying of a witch from the Black Thorn Clan, sworn enemies of the Clay People.

Their magic was dark and feared, but to Zayn, the prospect of killing was a heavy shadow on his aspirations.

Could he take a life, even for his dreams?
