THE AI ERA

In an era characterized by the rapid convergence of technology and human life, there's one term that has become a ubiquitous buzzword across industries and sectors: Artificial Intelligence, or AI. While it may seem like a recent phenomenon, the roots of AI trace back to the mid-20th century, and its impact on our world today is nothing short of revolutionary.

Now, people have feared AI since the very beginning of the computer age in the middle of the 20th century, and this fear has inspired many science fiction Classics like The Terminator Matrix.

Even though these science fiction scenarios have become cultural icons, they are generally not taken seriously in political, scientific, or intellectual debates possibly for good reason. because science fiction stories typically presuppose that AI must achieve or surpass key milestones before it can seriously threaten mankind.

AI must first develop sentience and experience conscious emotions; otherwise, why would it even wish to rule the entire planet?

Second, AI must develop the skills necessary to navigate the real world. Robots must be able to move and function in homes, cities, mountains, and forests with at least the same dexterity and efficiency as people. If they are unable to navigate the real world, how can they possibly take over?

AI still seems far off at this point from accomplishing either of these benchmarks. There is no proof that chat GPT or any other new AI tool has consciousness or feelings of emotion, despite all the hype surrounding them. Even with all of the excitement surrounding autonomous cars, the time when they rule the roads is being pushed back.

The bad news is that artificial intelligence (AI) doesn't actually need consciousness or the capacity to navigate the physical world in order to pose a threat to human civilization.

Over the last few years, new AI tools have been unleashed into the public sphere, which may threaten the survival of human civilization from a very unexpected Direction.

It is hard to even comprehend the potential of these new AI tools and how quickly they are evolving because AI has the capacity to learn from experience and grow. Not even the creators of these tools are aware of all that they have created, frequently taken aback by these tools' emerging qualities and abilities.

AI can produce more powerful AI. Therefore, before AI becomes uncontrollable, people must act quickly. Drug manufacturers are not allowed to market new medications to the public without first putting them through extensive safety testing. In the same way, AI shouldn't be made available to the general public too soon. If we don't slow down the AI arms race, we will run out of time to comprehend what is going on, let alone properly regulate this immensely potent technology.

Democracy will be overthrown by dictatorships due to unchecked AI deployment, as this will spiral out of control. Because authoritarian regimes could keep this chaos under control, open societies could.

As stewards of AI, we have a collective responsibility to harness it for humanity's betterment while mitigating its risks. By navigating this dilemma with wisdom, foresight, and a commitment to shared values, we can unlock the full potential of AI while safeguarding its ethical and societal implications.
