In the heart of a struggling Asian nation, people dreamed of a bright future. They believed that their political leaders would lead them to prosperity. So far, in the back rooms of power, a decision was made that would darken the fate of the nation.
Our story starts in an obscure village, where a family made a living in the rice paddies. The father, Rahim, worked the fields with one son, kamran, hoping that they would get a crop to bring their family up out of the dirt. His daughter, Aisha, dreamed of becoming a teacher who would light a beacon of education in her community.
When the political winds shifted, they made a decision.
