***

Yestiddy, I wuz mindin my own bizness when Doc showed up and tossed this here book at me and tol me I otter reed it. He said somethin about gittin myself some kulcher, whatever that is. I'm lots better at fishin than reedin so I didn't really wanna, but Doc'll jes keep pesterin ya if ya don't do what he sez, so I took a looksee.

Well, rite away I figgered out that the outside wuz purdy, but I probly ottent look at it when I bin samplin' Uncle Eddy's shine, cuz the lil pichers back o the wurds kept movin and it kinda made my belly feel funny. Sides, it's got a coupla big wurds right there on the front. So, I waited til Sissy wuz around and she red it to me. She's bin helpin me with my reedin and ritin a bit to, so I'm gittin better at soundin' wurds out and punchayshun and stuff. Everbody sez I need ta find me an editer, but there don't seem to be any up hear in the hills.

Anyhow, I thot I wood rite some about the book, cuz I learnt some about poet trees in it and I found out that don't mean wut I thot. I guess there's lotsa' poet trees and they got somethin to do with makin wurds sound good together, or makin' ya think about pichers when ya reed 'em. It's kinda' cun-few-zin, but when ya here em from a good reeder, that's kinda wut happens. It did with this book, anyways.

It's rit by this feller named Paul Stewart and that name don't sound out eggsakly like I thot, but it's close. I guess he's a purty big deal on this place called Vocal. Momma sez it's on that innernet thing and maybe I kin git Doc to show it to me down at the libary sometime.

Anyways, this Paul guy has got a way of puttin wurds together so they jes sorta move along like the crick over by Granny's. Sometimes it did make pichers in my head, and they wuz in culurs. I think I'm gunna half to find that tree and git ejikayted on how ta use it.

So Doc sez I'm sposed ta rite wut I thot about the book and jes tellin folks ta reed it ain't enuf. Seems ta me these city folk otter jes take good ad vise, but I guess it won't hurt me none to praktiss, so heer goes.

There's lotsa big wurds in this book, so if ya don't have a ejikayshun, I reckin havin sumbody like Sissy around to reed it to ya will help. Even the big wurds make purty pichers in yer head wen ya know wut they mean. I guess Mr Stewart (Momma sez not to talk about strangers usin there first name.) comes from a place called Scotland, where the folks talk even funnier than city folk here. He must have some book learnin of his own, cuz he rites Amurikin purty dang gone good. He rote sum stuff in the book the way they talk where he's from, and I like it heaps, even if I don't get what the wurds mean.

Momma sez poet tree stuf is s'posed to use a lot of wurds that sound the same, but lotsa stuff in the book don't, so they're mus be some rules Momma don't know. I think I mebbee there mite be a little poet tree round here somewhere, cuz some of it kinda' sounded like I wuz dreamin'.

I think everbody otter reed this book, cuz it gits me ta thinkin about lotsa things and even some places I ain't been. I recollect one thing he rote that says somethin' about the shine of the sun, and I bet they got some pretty good shine up there.

I gotta go, cuz Doc's here and sez he's gunna put somethin here that shows folks how to git the book, and then put it on that Vocal place.

*Doc here, again. Here's where you can preview and purchase your own copy of "The Accidental Poet" by Paul Stewart...

“it's got a coupla big wurds right there on the front” - I lolled here and then it just got better and better. I’m amazed how easy this reads - I must be a bit backwards.. Such a cool idea and amazing review of Paul’s poetry book. Felt like the lost chapter of “Of Mice and Men”. 😁
