The power of life and death lies in the tongue

many won’t work a job

But would rather victimize with a gun

If you’re standing on the edge

think hard before you jump

We will never have unity until we stand as one

Woe to the man that blatantly kills for fun

Is there not a cause?

Do you remember when that dentist killed Cecil the lion

and much of the world wanted to hang that man

Yet to this day there are no convictions

in the murder of Sandra Bland

Cells of upheaval germinate all over this land

we must come together, God help us understand

Without you we’re lost and we don’t stand a chance

Is there not a cause?

A racial divide is set to tear us apart

Intolerance, ignorance, and fear

whip this country hard

How are we moving backward

when we’ve come so far?

Work, watch, fight, and pray we must stay on guard

Let us uphold the light

so it shines through the dark

I ask you.
