Summary

More people suffer from mental illness than any other health issues. This kind of behavior is different from the normal and the treatment depends on the degree of deviation.

Dr.Amit Abraham, author of the book

"Taming the Little Devils Within:"

explains all about mental health, meaning of little devils, stress, depression and other types of mental problems, and then shows how to correct them in order to become mentally healthy.

Dr. Abraham suggests seeking professional help in the early stages: so that to recover early otherwise the condition will only worsen.

'Taming The Little Devils Within' is a practical and useful guide to determining if any psychological issue is affecting your behavior and, if yes, to what degree or extent. Most texts point out the effect but this book explains the remedies. THAT’S WHY WE CONSULT ANY PSYCHOLOGIST or A PSYCHIATRIST. This deviation in degree level determines the course of treatment or counseling provided by experts. Even a headache can cause psychological problems if not treated promptly.

Although we have control over our mental health, we unknowingly create conditions that make us mentally ill. Dr. Amit Abraham explains how even a mentally healthy individual can aggravate conditions that negatively affect his psychological wellbeing. Simple explanation is intended to help readers of the book to understand the importance of timely psychological counseling in order to return to a mentally healthy lifestyle.

According to the author, due to advances in medical science and technology, people all over the world have been able to overcome many of the physical ills that had plagued them for centuries. Humanity has progressed over the years, but not without paying a price for all of its achievements.

Though the black plague, the dreaded pandemic that threatened the world a few centuries ago, has been eradicated, but it appears to have been replaced by a new set of psychological problems. These appear just simple but are extremely lethal, spreading within like cancer and taking their toll gradually but steadily.

Worry, loneliness, disillusionment, and doubts are all present. We are too preoccupied with chasing our dreams, blindly running through mazes and dark alleys without knowing the destination. Those who have been fortunate enough to find their way appear not satisfied with their final results. This is the illusion of modern existence. In the end, everyone feels the same way about their anxiety. It's no surprise that this is the Age of Anxiety.

Today, living without mental problems is almost a myth. We are all shaken by tough personal and social issues. There have been social unrest, economic recession, unemployment, personal grief, and numerous other psychosocial and economic issues that have disrupted our lives, affecting our mental health.

Darwin's Law of Survival of the Fittest has made its way from the jungle to the civilized world. Almost every child is constantly under pressure to succeed, with the pressure increasing after each goal he achieves. The steps on the ladder are infinite, and there is no end to the human desires that can be satisfied. Fulfilled desires quickly lose their meaning, and newer unfulfilled ones come up and aggravate parent's anxieties.

Look around you and you'll see anxious, unhappy, confused people who are not reaching their full potential because they can't find a satisfactory solution to problems that seem hard to overcome.

In many cases, modern life's stress takes its toll, leading to psychological causality without the person knowing it. This aggravates a man's anxiety.

In fact, after reading the book, the reader will realize that there is no clear distinction between normal and abnormal behavior.

According to statistics, mental illness incapacitates more people than all other health problems combined. It may be a sobering reality, but we all exhibit some of the other characteristics that set us apart from the norm. Our abnormal behavior may be a matter of degrees, but the question of "How normal are we?" arises.

The lay persons may disagree with what is being claimed here, but abnormal behavior includes more than just the extreme, bizarre, and sensational behaviors seen in mental hospitals and clinics. It is our lack of awareness that causes us to be unhappy. It is time for us to face this harsh reality and make conscious efforts to live a more mentally healthy and adjusted life.

The author has described all about mental health, the origins of little devils, the causes of abnormal behavior, besides stress, anxiety, depression, sleep disorder, suspiciousness, irritability, forgetfulness, mania, obsession, personality disorder, and how to disarm and correct these devils in order to live mentally healthy life.

While reading the book, you should not suffer the fears that you are out of the ordinary. Many people experience anxiety, discouragement, and feelings of inadequacy for days or months at a time. Their actions may remain irrational, irritable, and restless. They may feel tired, have a loss of appetite, or sleep disturbances. However, this does not imply that they are neurotic.

These symptoms may be the result of psychological stresses that affect such people for a variety of reasons. Almost everyone experiences feelings of insecurity and anxiety as a result of various life situations, so your symptoms simply add you to the larger world of normally deviant people.

Though most of us are minor deviations from normalcy, some of us may have crossed the line. For diagnosis and treatment, psychiatric and psychological intervention is required. It should not be taken lightly, as delaying will only make matters worse.

Remember that mental illness is not a disgrace.

One sincere recommendation: Do not be afraid to seek professional assistance as soon as possible. Your positive acceptance of the problem or problems will allow you to seek timely professional counseling and recover while the disorder is still in its early stages. This action will keep difficulties from worsening.

Your treatment is for the benefit of your own and your family's health.
