Dysfunctionality
Understanding Dysfunctionality
What is Dysfunctionality? Dysfunctionality refers to the harmful patterns of behavior, emotions and thoughts that can arise from traumatic experiences, unhealthy relationships, and societal expectations. It's like having a broken toy that doesn't do what it's supposed to do. Imagine you have a family where;
- Mom and Dad always fight and shout at each other.
- Your siblings are mean to you and make you feel bad.
- You're always scared or worried at home.
That's an example of dysfunctionality. It's when the people who are supposed to love and care for you aren't doing a good job, and it makes you feel unhappy, scared or confused.
The Effects of Patriarchal Mentality Impact On Dysfunctionality .
The far-reaching consequences of patriarchal mentality are often overlooked. The trauma and emotional distress inflicted upon women are disregarded and their experiences are minimized. It is essential to acknowledge and address these issues rather than perpetuating harmful stereotypes and expectations. I recall a conversation with a woman who shared a disturbing anecdote about her mother's entrenched patriarchal beliefs. Her mother emphatically stated that a woman cannot build a house without a man's involvement. This mentality, perpetuated by societal norms and cultural expectations, is damaging and pervasive. Numerous instances of toxic masculinity have come to my attention, where men exhibit a blatant disregard for women's autonomy
